The Purpose of Holding Events
Survivor Resources leads various events throughout each year to recognize and support survivors' grief and honor their loved ones. Events sponsored by Survivor Resources serve three purposes:- Help heal survivors through memorial services and dedications.
- Raise funds to keep these services available to those in need.
- Increase public awareness of the need for community programs like Survivor Resources.
About Our Fundraisers
Survivor Resources provides support services to the families, friends and community of loved ones lost to homicide, suicide and accidental death. Although we are largely a volunteer-driven organization, activities still must be coordinated by 3 paid employees and reviewed by a Board of Directors. The program has some government funding, but will primarily depend on the generosity of community members to maintain its level of service. To give you an idea of how much our organization does, take a look at these 2008 statistics:
- 640 new clients were served
- 39 weeks of group sessions were held for bridge collapse survivors
- 35 weeks of group sessions were held for survivors of homicide, suicide, and accident
Survivor Resources needs ongoing financial support to maintain existing programs in St. Paul/Ramsey County and Minneapolis/Hennepin County. We hope you never need our services. But if you or your employees ever suffer a tragic loss of a loved one, we want to be available. So, please consider participating in our fundraising events, or visit our donations page to find out how to contribute directly to Survivor Resources.
There are two annual fundraisers that generate much-needed income for Survivor Resources. You can read more about the Survivor Resources Walk-A-Thon and the Megan Fischer Auction here in the Events section of our website.
