Megan Fischer Auction
2009 will bring the 7th Annual Megan Fischer Auction, held on October 18 at Mancini's Char House. Megan's mom and Survivor Resources board member, Irene Schneider, has been hosting the auction since 2003 in order to honor her daughter and to give back to Survivor Resources for helping her family work through the loss of Megan. Read Megan's story, written by Irene. Stories from others served by Survivor Resources can also be found here.
The 6th Annual Megan Fischer Auction in 2008 earned $8744 for Survivor Resources, and we are so grateful to Irene and her family for this precious gift that helps to serve so many other families affected by similar tragedies.

Auction Items
Wonderful items are available in the auction this year, including Timberwolves and Vikings tickets, overnights at 3 different casinos, golf equipment, dining certificates, wine and liquor baskets, bath and body baskets, jewelry, a flat screen TV,
artwork, sports memorabilia, tickets to other local performances, and much more!
One very special item being offered this year is the original painting commissioned for the Uptown Art Fair and painted by lifelong Minnesota resident Marni Tobin to commemorate the I-35W Bridge Collapse on August 1, 2007. It is being donated to the auction by the Uptown Association.

The piece is entitled “13 Flowers", a tribute to the 13 who lost their lives. “One of the first things that struck me when studying the victims was their cultural diversity,” Tobin explains. “I believe this is very representative of Minnesota and our community, and a bridge is symbolic of connecting people and cultures. To represent and remember the diversity of the 13 people who lost their lives, I used 13 flowers. This also signifies re-growth. Some flowers are connected to each other—as in a bud, seed, or smaller flower—to represent mother and child. I also used flowers native to the different countries or states of the victims to represent their different cultures. The new bridge and Minneapolis skyline represent our city’s ability to rise up from the rubble and re-build.”
